Se cumple el primer aniversario del “Pastelgate” de Wayne Shaw
Hoy hace justo un año el mundo fue testigo del nacimiento de una leyenda: Wayne Shaw.
El portero semiprofesional jugaba entonces para el Sutton United de la National League, quinta categoría del fútbol inglés, cuando le tocó fungir como guardameta suplente en la quinta ronda de la FA Cup contra el Arsenal.
Allí, en la banca, tomó un pastel y se lo llevó a la boca, imagen que dio la vuelta al globo. Lamentablemente, esto le costó una suspensión y multa debido a que una casa de apuestas pagaba 8-1 si Shaw se comía un pastel en el banquillo.

Eso sí, él alega estar viviendo “un sueño” desde entonces.

“Un año de aniversario de #Piegate (Pastelgate). Es lo mejor que me ha pasado a mí y a mi familia”, escribió Shaw en su cuenta personal de Twitter. “El apoyo de todos ustedes ha sido magnífico. Oh, sí, gracias a FA y al Sutton United por su apoyo, NO. Viviendo el sueño”.

Un año después, Shaw, de 45 años de edad, regresó al fútbol, uniéndose a AFC Totton como su nuevo gerente comercial.
“Creemos que tener a Wayne a bordo ayudará a este maravilloso club de fútbol a dar un gran paso hacia la realización de su indudable potencial”, explicó en un comunicado el equipo.
Mientras, el bueno de Wayne sigue viviendo en una nube.
